Vikings officially activate Sam Bradford for Sunday”

The Minnesota Vikings have activated quarterback Sam Bradford prior to their Divisonal round matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

The Vikings on Saturday activated off injured reserve Bradford, who hasn't played since October 9 because of a knee injury, and placed tight end Kyle Carter on waivers. Tight end Kyle Carter was waived Saturday to make room for Bradford.

It remains uncertain whether the Vikings will dress three quarterbacks against the Saints and whether Teddy Bridgewater, who has been the backup for starter Case Keenum, will continue in that role.

Earlier this week, Zimmer said he knows who his backup quarterback will be when the Vikings host the Saints in the divisional round but chose not to disclose his plan. The last time they dressed three QBs for a game was on November 7, 2013, while Leslie Frazier was still the head coach for a game against the Washington Redskins.

According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Keenum, who has played on three teams in five years, got a leg up on the competition by using VR to learn the Vikings' offense. The Vikings were 11-3 in the regular season with Keenum as a starter, and he finished with a 67.6 completion percentage, 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a passer rating of 98.3.

Bradford, Bridgewater and Case Keenum are all scheduled to become free agents after the season, and Bradford's return to health during the playoffs could help his case if he hits the open market in March. Bradford, who had surgeries in 2013 and 2014 to fix a torn left ACL, had arthroscopic surgery November 7 on that knee and was placed on injured reserve the next day.

Bradford started in Week 5 at Chicago, but left just before halftime.

Then, in a run-of-the-mill training camp practice, Bridgewater dislocated his knee and tore his ACL. Keenum led three second-half scoring drives in relief of Bradford as the Vikings beat the Bears 20-17. "He's working back in, getting his feet wet".
