Doty, along side three other law enforcement officers, was injured during an ambush shooting early Tuesday morning following a domestic violence call.

York County sheriff's Sgt. He has been with YCSO for 34 years.

The suspect in the shooting, Christian Thomas MCall, 47, of York, remains hospitalized, and has not been charged.

Doty, 37, had been an officer with the York County Sheriff's Office since 2006. He was wanted for allegedly assaulting a woman at the home, deputies said. York Police Department Sgt. Kyle Cummings, also shot, was discharged Thursday. The K-9 was not struck by the gunfire.

The memorial is next to a statue of a police officer that lists the other York County officers killed on duty.

Dozens of police officers, firefighters and other community members gathered in York County on Thursday as the body of fallen Detective Mike Doty was escorted back to SC from Charlotte.

Doty was transported to a Charleotte hospital, where he died the next day.

"Just to show that they have support, that as they are going through this hard time, they do have the community as well as our residents and staff showing and giving back to them", said Sophia Chacon, a York, South Carolina, resident.

Doty had served with the sheriff's office for 12 years. He was taken into custody and brought to Carolinas Medical Center-Main. Warrants have been issued for his arrest on charges of capital murder, three counts of attempted murder and first-degree domestic violence. Brown, and Sgt. Cummings.
