Facebook acquires Company that Authenticates IDs”

The company said that Confirm's "technology and expertise will support [its] ongoing efforts to keep [its] community safe". Now, we're ready to take the next step on our journey with Facebook.

Based in Boston, Confirm was founded back in 2015 and has raised $4 million in funding. But the acquisition comes amid broader efforts by Facebook to confirm the identities of its users to protect their accounts and prevent people from using its platform to influence political elections.

Facebook has acquired, the Boston-based ID cards Authentication Company.

Facebook hasn't stated whether they would render the same services that provided so far, that of confirming people's identity.

The startup states, "When we propelled Confirm, our central goal was to end up plainly the market's trusted personality beginning stage for which other multifaceted check administrations can expand upon".

Identity Inc also stated it was beginning the process of winding down its current software offerings, as Facebook integration plans get underway. In addition to ID cards,'s service also handled biometrics and facial recognition data. Although we don't have an exact number, Linked In lists about 50 employees not affiliated as investors or board members.

Although the applications for the technology would appear to be widespread, most of Confirm's customers use the platform as a means to speed up staff recruitment, TechCrunch reported. It will now be rolled into Mark Zuckerberg's company, where it will presumably work on verification for the Facebook platform - perhaps with transactions made on the social network, or helping users that are locked out of their accounts. Users in the past were asked to mail copies of their IDs such as driver licenses to verify their identity.

Identity Inc. has been in operation for around three years and has created software that quickly - and pretty easily - confirms the Government ID of a particular person.
