Vice President Pence Criticizes Manchin During Trip to West Virginia

Vice President Pence Criticizes Manchin During Trip to West Virginia”

"Thank you Vice President Pence for looking past the cameras, looking at the crowd, looking at the press, and saying very clearly, 'Joe voted no on the tax cut, '" Jenkins said during a news conference that was supposed to be focused on West Virginia's opioid epidemic.

Manchin said on "Fox & Friends" that supporting the president was a matter of respect. Cuomo dismissed the vice president's comments, which extolled the benefits of tax reform for West Virginians, and said he had done his "homework".

Cuomo asked Manchin, who is up for reelection this year, how he viewed Pence's decision to "undercut" him in his state. "I was a governor of my state", Manchin said.

As talked about infrastructure, the resurgence of coal as part of America's energy strategy and Christian faith as the center of American life, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, who voted against the plan. So, I'm looking at everything I can that basically is going to lift us up and work together. The vice president is preparing to hit the campaign trail this year, crisscrossing the nation to tout the successes of the Trump administration, praise Republican candidates who support the pro-growth agenda of the Republican party, and savage incumbent Democrats in states President Donald Trump won in 2016.

"Folks, Joe is just going to keep voting against West Virginia", Pence said.

"People of the Mountain State, you deserve to know, when it came to cutting your taxes, Joe voted no", Pence told employees of Worldwide Equipment Inc.

Pence criticized Manchin for voting against the Republican tax cut, against repealing Obamacare and and against defunding Planned Parenthood on Twitter, and then referenced the town hall.

His tweets sparked a strong rebuke from Manchin, with the moderate West Virginia lawmaker responding that he'd worked in a bipartisan way to stop the recent government shutdown, and that Pence's attack "are exactly why Washington sucks".

Manchin, Jenkins added, used "some pretty odd language" in describing "why Washington sucks".

One Democratic senator joined in a series of standing ovations during Tuesday night's State of the Union address, drawing eye rolls from others in his party. "I'm disappointed in his comments but will continue to work to make work so West Virginia and our country work".
