Trump says memo 'completely vindicates' him in Russian Federation probe

Trump says memo 'completely vindicates' him in Russian Federation probe”

Do not forget to update your bookmarks. Nunes' memo was released Friday and alleges the Federal Bureau of Investigation abused the FISA process in obtaining a surveillance warrant on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Rep. Mike Conaway of Texas, a Republican, says Bannon is under active subpoena to appear for the interview as part of the House intelligence committee's investigation into Russian election interference and any ties to the president's campaign. "There is a compact between our committee and the intelligence community".

Schiff and other Democrats, along with some conservatives, have slammed Nunes for pushing to release the previously classified information.

Adam Schiff, who wrote the second memo, welcomed Monday's vote by the Republican-controlled committee on which he is the top-ranking Democrat.

"The Nunes memo challenges the entire premise of the special counsel's investigation - especially if there is now a serious inquiry about whether the president obstructed justice of an investigation that was inappropriately initiated by the government in the first place", he wrote.

"The Obama administration was deliberately politicizing the justice system", Gingrich said.

Representative Devin Nunes, the committee's Republican chairman who commissioned the Republican memo, declined comment. Trump said Friday he to allow a Democratic rebuttal if it passed a "security and legal review", according to a White House statement.

Lawmakers are expected to vote Monday whether the Democrats' version should go public, and some Republicans are okay with that.

Schiff quickly responded on Twitter.

As a second week of memo-watching commenced, the committee was also prepared to interview Steve Bannon, Trump's former chief strategist, as part of the Russian Federation probe.

But two people familiar with the panel's schedule say that meeting has now been put off. "There is a rising sense of panic clearly within the White House and as well on the Hill".

The White House has suggested it would entertain the idea of reviewing Democrats' memo, but it's being a little less collegial than before.

If Trump refuses, his decision could be overruled by a House vote.

Democrats say the GOP memo contradicts its own premise that the Russian Federation investigation began with Page and the dossier.

In attacking Schiff, Trump compared him to former FBI director James Comey, whose dismissal by the president in May is one of the subjects of an obstruction of justice investigation by Mueller's.

"At some point, I may certainly entertain running for statewide office", he said.

Nunes, on "Fox & Friends" Monday morning, accused Democrats of "almost 100 leaks" coming from the House Intelligence Committee. He has spoken of his interest to run for higher office and he's now the ranking Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee. If approved, the matter would be sent to Trump, who would have five days to object to its release.

The underlying materials that served as the basis for the warrant application were not made public.

Democrats said the Republican memo was meant to undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's criminal probe into possible collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign, and that Trump might try to use it to justify firing Mueller or Rod Rosenstein, the No. 2 official at Justice, who signed off on at least one warrant application for Page. Still, some Republicans, including Rep. Trey Gowdy of SC and House Speaker Paul Ryan have said the memo should not be used to undermine Mueller's probe.
