Nunes did 'irreparable' harm to House Intelligence Committee, Democratic member says”

For now, some Republican committee members deny knowing anything about it, while strongly suggesting the division is the brainchild of the committee's chairman, Devin Nunes, R-California.

House Intelligence Committee Republicans are planning to build a physical wall to separate Democrat and Republican staffers, according to committee sources who spoke with CBS News.

"The problem with this whole committee and the investigation itself", House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Thomas Rooney (R-FL) told the Post, arguing "in a normal world", the committee would have interviewed permanent witnesses to their surveillance concerns.

"I'm not part of that decision", Rep. Mike Conaway told CBS. "It's absolute poison down there", Republican Tom Rooney said when questioned about the plan by CBS.

Republicans in the House of Representatives say they will not use memos as they continue to probe accusations of Federal Bureau of Investigation surveillance abuse, The Washington Post reported Friday. Nunes has said that the committee's Republicans are still investigating and plan to put together more memos.

Also plaguing the committee is concerns over leadership, as several Democrats have called for Nunes's removal over the memo controversy, and delays in the committee's investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential race. That four-page document alleged widespread surveillance abuses by the FBI, though House Republicans, including Nunes, were forced to walk back key claims that seemed to target the Department of Justice's handling of the Russian Federation investigation. "This would be a very destructive decision".

The wall is reportedly being constructed sometime this spring, CBS reported.

The site says it is paid for by Nunes' campaign committee, and the congressman has shared some CARepublican posts on his Facebook page. But Graham and Grassley have refrained from drafting anything resembling a memo in the Senate, instead waiting for law enforcement officials to approve redacted versions of their referral before releasing them. "Just to make sure point by point we rebut what they have asserted, to show the seriousness of the investigation", Swalwell said, also pointing to the fact that the Democratic memo will undergo scrutiny from the DOJ and any information deemed too sensitive for release will be scrubbed as further evidence that it will not impact the investigation in a negative way.
