Trump Will Talk with Gaming Industry Figures About Gun Violence”

President Donald Trump will meet with members of the video game industry next week after he suggested during a bipartisan meeting at the White House that there may be a link between violence in games and gun violence. Do you think that this meeting with gaming industry figures next week will be productive or merely a waste of time?

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders briefed reporters and addressed the issue that's dominated the headlines since a gunman walked into a Florida high school and killed 14 children and three adults almost two weeks ago. "It's something that we're going to continue to be engaged in, and something that we're going to look into the best ways possible to make sure we're doing everything we can to protect schools across the country".

No further details on the upcoming meeting were immediately made known.

At the heart of this news is President Trump's apparent belief that playing violent video games can lead to violent behavior. The ESA represents Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and every other major video game publisher. "I see it. I get to see things that you'd be amazed at", Trump said.

That's why we're continuing to have the discussions and why we opened majority up, so you guys can see where a number of these people are and see that there are a lot of voices on both sides.

"I'm hearing more and more people saying that the level of violence on videogames is really shaping young people's thoughts", Trump said in February.

"The video games, the movies, the internet stuff is so violent", Trump told an assembly of congresspeople and gun experts on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court in 2011 struck down a previous attempt by the government to regulate the depiction of violence in video games, concluding that the games were protected by the First Amendment.

The topic of whether violent video games impact actual violence has been a contentious one in the past.
