Woman poisoned with cheesecake in identity theft attempts

Woman poisoned with cheesecake in identity theft attempts”

A Brooklyn woman is accused of poisoning her lookalike with cheesecake, then stealing the victim's identity and other property, CBS New York reports.

They say the 35-year-old victim ate the cheesecake, fell ill and passed out.

A day later, the victim's friend reportedly found her unconscious in her bed with pills scattered around her body as if the woman had attempted to kill herself. Before passing out, the woman's last memory is of seeing the defendant sitting beside her inside her home, according to prosecutors.

Only after she recovered from the overdose did Tsvyk discover that Nasyrova had made off with her passport, employment authorization card, a gold ring and cash, officials said.

"This is a freaky and twisted crime that could have resulted in the death of a Queens woman, whose only fault was that she shared similar features with the defendant", the statement said.

Russian native Viktoria Nasyrova, 42, of Brooklyn, was arraigned Tuesday on attempted murder, burglary, assault and other charges after being arrested in March 2017, the Queens District Attorney's Office announced. Her lawyer Barbara Byrne has refused to comment on the case.

Nasyrova previously told CBS that she did not force the woman to eat the cheesecake.

After she reported the thefts, detectives tested the cheesecake and discovered it contained the Russian tranquiliser Phenazepan. "The defendant has been apprehended and now faces a long term of incarceration".

Nasyrova allegedly fled to NY to avoid being charged with the 2014 death of Alla Aleksenko, 54, whose burned body was uncovered in a western Russian Federation grave. Court documents suggest that the woman fled Russian Federation where she was wanted for the murder of a 54-year-old woman.

Nasyrova allegedly drugged and robbed her male victims before moving onto the next target.
