Google's Android Wear Smartwatch OS Could Receive 'Wear OS' Rebrand

Google's Android Wear Smartwatch OS Could Receive 'Wear OS' Rebrand”

Anything you're hoping to see in Wear OS?

Initially I was skeptical of the company rebranding to Wear OS. There are some Android Wear devices that can be used with Apple as well so it would make sense to call them Wear OS, keeping it neutral across all devices.

First spotted by Redditor /u/H3x0n on the /r/AndroidWear subreddit, the latest Google Play Services beta update is showing a new logo and name when attempting to set up an Android Wear smartwatch.

9to5Google adds that the notification was sent via Google Play Services, which is now at version 12.2 (most recent stable release).

Last week, Google released the first developer preview of its next version of operating system "Android P" which the company said was mostly focused on the changes that will affect developers and might not have significant user interface (UI) adjustments. You're conditioned to look for iOS, so it's not initially 100% clear that Android Wear will work with your phone and may put you off looking at Google's smartwatches right away.
