'RECKLESS:' White House Blasts Chemical Attack On Russian Spy”

The attack targeted a former Russian intelligence officer who defected to the United Kingdom along with his 33-year-old daughter. British Prime Minister Theresa May, however, had no qualms in blaming Russian Federation, telling parliament Monday it is "highly likely" that the Kremlin is responsible.

Sanders described the incident as "an outrage" and said Washington has been closely monitoring developments.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday dodged questions about Moscow's alleged involvement in a series of poisonings targeting former spies living in Britain, instead offering a canned statement about maintaining support for United States allies.

When Prime Minister Theresa May spoke today, she said it was "highly likely" that the Russian government was responsible for the military-grade nerve agent attack against Skripal and his daughter, who live in the United Kingdom.

The White House has finally broken its silence over the attack, describing it as "reckless, indiscriminate and irresponsible".

The reporter pressed, pointing out that the British government has determined that Russian Federation provided the chemical weapon used in the poisoning. "We offer the fullest condemnation".

"They're still working through even some of the details of that". All remain in serious condition.

The UK government has accused Russian Federation of being behind a nerve agent attack on a former double agent in Salisbury, England. Instead, Sanders said the administration is condemning the attack and "standing with our ally".

The White House did not go that far on Monday.

The Trump administration has faced criticism for its muted criticisms of Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin after the US intelligence community determined Russia sought to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. "You can only ask so many times", he told reporters in November.
