SteelSeries Arctis Pro Headset Line Announced

SteelSeries Arctis Pro Headset Line Announced”

Roccat was actually first to market with a hi-res certified gaming headset (that we're aware of), the Khan Pro that was introduced previous year.

Today, peripheral gaming company SteelSeries has announced a brand-new line of gaming headsets, the Arctis Pro series. Featuring the legendary ESS Sabre DAC and amp, the Arctis Pro + GameDAC allows gamers to experience the pure joy of high fidelity audio. According to our contact at SteelSeries, the certification is more than just a licensing play: "they make you rigorously prove that the headset can produce hi-res frequencies and support that high resolution audio". If you're interested in picking up an Arctis Pro for yourself the base model comes in at $180, the GameDAC model is priced at $250 and the wireless model will run you about $330.

The SteelSeries GameDAC is a dedicated high-fidelity USB DAC and amplifier specifically made for gaming.

If you want to cut the cord, there's also a wireless version with its own breakout box, complete with OLED screen for changing settings and a charging slot for hot-swapping the headset battery when you're running low. PC gamers that want to dive deeper into sound customization can use the SteelSeries Engine software for "total personalization".

The Arctis Pro line shares the aesthetics of the Red Dot Award-winning Arctis line, but with the addition of premium materials throughout.

The Arctis Pro line delivers next-level comfort with a self-adjusting ski goggle headband, which perfectly contours to gamers' heads, while the athletics-inspired Airweave ear cushions wrap their ears in cool, soft fabric for long-lasting comfort. However, unlike the Arctis Pro + GameDAC, the Arctis Pro Wireless features the swappable dual-battery system first introduced by SteelSeries with the Siberia 800 and Siberia 840. Cans connect to base unit over a lossless 2.4G signal, but there's Bluetooth for pairing to a smartphone as well.

The headset uses 40mm neodymium drivers to bang your eardrums with audio at up to 40,000 Hz.

Additionally, the 2.4 G and Bluetooth connections can be used simultaneously, which means you can game while chatting in Discord or even listening to music. The wireless pair can't because the audio needs to be compressed for transmission. Auto-channel hopping technology ensures the headset will always find clean RF space for interference-free performance.

Lastly, the Arctis Pro offers all the same features as the Pro Wireless with the most distinctive (and apparent features) being the wireless functionality and RGB lighting which is only available in the Arctis Pro. Like the GameDAC, the Arctis Pro Wireless has an OLED screen to adjust settings quickly without the need for additional software.

The Arctis Pro Wireless is a little different as it doesn't have a cable with in-line remote/DAC.
