Prosecutors unopposed to release of rapper Meek Mill

Prosecutors unopposed to release of rapper Meek Mill”

The prosecutor's office filed a motion on Wednesday citing alleged false testimony provided by arresting officer Reginald Graham at Mill's 2007 trial, who is on a list of officers who is "considered tainted and unworthy of testimony by the DA's office", according to Philadelphia Magazine.

The district attorney's office said that its policy was not to make a request more than six to twelve months for technical violations of probation and parole, and it was not likely that the pleading could be decided within a span of six months.

Mill (real name Robert Williams) revealed to Rolling Stone that he doesn't allow anyone to visit him at the Chester, Pennsylvania, state prison where he is serving a two to four year sentence.

Jerold Gibson, the former son-in-law of former Gov. Tom Corbett who was sacked from the Philadelphia Police Department for stealing cash found in evidence, has come forward to back up Meek's claim, and submitted sworn statements that Graham and other cops beat Meek during the arrest.

That being said, it'll be hard to pin any clear corruption charges on Judge Brinkley, but in the case of the corrupt officer, Meek's defense team may have something plausible to bring to the April 16 post-conviction hearing.

Tacopina and Meek's family held a forum at UPenn's Irvine Auditorium on March 14 to discuss the case and call for Meek's release. "Can you please help me out?"

Kathy Williams, Meek Mill's mother, conveyed acknowledgment for the action.

Mill was arrested in 2008 and served about nine months on charges of gun possession and assaulting police. They issued accusations against him by other officers.

Philadelphia prosecutors told the AP that they are not opposed to releasing the rapper while he appeals a probation violation sentence. He spent most of that time in solitary "protective custody" due to being a high-profile inmate. "She revoked his probation in November after another failed drug screening and two unrelated arrests - the first in St. Louis during a fight at an airport, and later in New York City for reckless driving".
