Rihanna lashes out at Snapchat for joking about Domestic Violence

Rihanna lashes out at Snapchat for joking about Domestic Violence”

Snapchat, which now has around 166 million users globally, recently published an ad for the "Would You Rather?" game, which at one point asks users if they would "slap Rihanna" or "punch Chris Brown".

I'd love to call ignorance, but I know you ain't that dumb! "But I'm just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!", the singer wrote on Instagram on Thursday. "You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to [domestic violence] victims and made a joke of it!" "Shame on you. Throw the whole appo-oligy away [sic]", she added.

The social media platform - which counts 187 million users, especially young people drawn to its quickly vanishing posts - had featured an advertisement for "Would You Rather?", a game app that asks sometimes provocative questions.

Pop singer Rihanna slammed the social media app Snapchat for allegedly promoting domestic violence.

After receiving the ire of the fans from all, Snapchat had issued a public apology and removed the ad, days before the singer's outburst.

The advertiser, which isn't affiliated with Snap, has since been blocked from the platform.

Rihanna wrote a ranting response that ultimately, asked everyone to delete the app.

Many users caught the thinly veiled reference to the infamous 2009 incident when Chris Brown violently assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

"Snapchat's stocks dropped by almost five percent after singer Rihanna's Instagram post".

A spokesman for Snapchat said: "This advertisement is disgusting and never should have appeared on our service".

"We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again".

Rihanna's comments were the latest bad press for Snapchat.

"We are so sorry we made the awful mistake of allowing it through our review process", the Snapchat statement concluded.

Earlier this year, after a much-maligned redesign of their app, celebrity Kylie Jenner tweeted that she did not use Snapchat anymore.
