Buhari is incompetent, says PDP senator

Buhari is incompetent, says PDP senator”

Some members of the Senate were in disagreement on Thursday after Senator Enyinaya Abaribe questioned the competence of President Muhammadu Buhari over the security situation in the country.

"Yesterday, in London, the commander-in-chief and president of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari said that these killings were as a result of the people who were trained by Muammar Gaddafi, implying that these people who are doing the killings in Nigeria are invaders from outside of Nigeria".

Abaraibe who came under Order 43, narrated how President Buhari who is in far away London, told all who cared to listen that the killings in Nigeria are perpetrated by killers trained by Mamman Ghadafi, reminded that Buhari "s position has confirmed his (Abaraibe" s) last position to the effect that this President is "incompetent".

Condemning the lawmaker's statement, Senator Lawan said, "I want to ask my colleague there to immediately withdraw his statement and apologise to this chamber".

He said: "This chamber has discussed the killings in Nigeria".

NAIJ.com previously reported that the National Food Security Council warned that if efforts are not intensified to create cattle ranches or provide better security against rustling in the country, the deadly clashes between farmers and herdsmen could worsen by 2019. He condemned what he described as the bitter politics of the opposition in the Senate.

He said, "A few days ago in this chamber, we talked about the security of Nigeria".

"This is our institution".

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, however, upheld Lawan's point.

He also stressed the need for the lawmakers to be guided on the language they use, noting that they could make their points without using offensive and unacceptable words. "Please be guided accordingly", Saraki cautioned.

Abaribe said, "There are words with no alternatives".

Responding, Abaribe said he was within what is permissible under the law.

He said the decision to disband the Parliamentary Support Group, PSG (Senate) for President Buhari as raised by Senate was left with the over 50 members of PSG to decide.

Senator Abaribe consequently tendered his apology, saying "if any word I used is misunderstood, I apologise". "What I am saying is simple". "It shows that there is a disconnect", he said shortly before being interrupted by the deputy Senate leader.
