Mariah Carey to Write Memoir After Sharing Bipolar Diagnosis

Mariah Carey to Write Memoir After Sharing Bipolar Diagnosis”

Mariah revealed her 17-year-long battle with the disorder earlier this week, where she admitted she was living in "denial and isolation" before speaking publicly about her struggle.

Mariah revealed that her bipolar II diagnosis, dated back to 2001, during a self-admitted stay in the hospital where she received treatment for a breakdown that initially was claimed to be caused by stress. "It does not have to define you and I refuse to allow it to define me or control me", she said.

Mariah Carey is thanking fans for their "overwhelming" support after she recently revealed that she has been suffering from bipolar disorder for almost two decades. Until recently, I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me. But it wasn't normal insomnia and I wasn't lying awake counting sheep. I was working and working and working. It turns out that I was experiencing a form of mania. Carey said the medication is having a positive effect and is not making her feel too exhausted or sluggish.

You don't have to follow Mariah Carey closely to have heard the buzz about how working with her can sometimes be hard and unpredictable. "Eventually I would just hit a wall", the singer told the magazine.

"I'm hopeful we can get to a place where the stigma is lifted from people going through anything alone", Carey said.

The Hero hitmaker has reportedly been "looking inward" since deciding to go public with her bipolar disorder diagnosis and her representative has confirmed to the New York Post's Page Six TV that she is writing a memoir.
