Outlook to Soon Let You Pay Bills, Invoices Without Leaving the App

Outlook to Soon Let You Pay Bills, Invoices Without Leaving the App”

Microsoft's answer to Android Pay and Apple Pay that was originally launched in 2016 as Microsoft Wallet - is getting a little more useful today.

At the Microsoft Build 2018 Developer Conference in Seattle, Microsoft declared facilitation of payment services by incorporating it with Outlook.

Microsoft is also using this to bring Microsoft Pay into Outlook, so you'll be able to pay bills directly in your email. Microsoft is developing a framework that will use Microsoft Pay to handle bill and invoice payments directly inside Outlook, and the framework is said to be fast and secure. Mike Ammerlaan, Director, Office 365 Ecosystem, elaborates on teaming up with FreshBooks: "Microsoft is excited to collaborate with innovative companies like FreshBooks that understand how their small business customers can benefit by enabling streamlined payment experiences through Outlook and Microsoft Pay".

With the growing addition of payments feature in nearly all the apps or Web services we use, it appears to be a wise decision for Microsoft to add the new feature to Outlook as it seeks to compete Google's Gmail. Soon, hundreds of millions of Outlook customers will be able to pay invoices and bills from right inside their inbox, with just a few clicks. "By removing the friction and time needed to complete a payment, Stripe and Microsoft can help businesses around the world reduce missed or late payments, ultimately increasing their revenue". In the following couple of weeks, Microsoft Pay will be taken off to some Outlook.com users, whereas other users will be catered in the near future.

"Our partnership with Stripe opens up new opportunities for developers to monetize on Microsoft platforms" said Peggy Johnson, executive vice president of business development, Microsoft, in a statement. Stripe Connect operates as a payment vehicle for multisided marketplaces and platforms used by companies such as Shopify, Salesforce and Facebook.
