ESPN Names MNF Broadcast Team”

Witten will work from the booth alongside Tessitore while McFarland works from field level, a first for "Monday Night Football".

ESPN announced its revamped "Monday Night Football" team on Thursday, with the only holdover being sideline reporter Lisa Salters.

The new "MNF" crew will call their first regular season game on September 10 when the Raiders host the Los Angeles Rams at 10:15 p.m.

Tessitore replaces Sean McDonough as the lead announcer, who will reportedly return to calling college football games. He headed to the Raiders after spending nine years with the sports media giant.

ESPN has made it official: "Monday Night Football" will have an nearly entirely new broadcast team for the 2018 season. With Jon Gruden back in coaching with the Raiders, Witten and McFarland move into the analysis roles.

"Our new Monday Night Football team shares a passion and respect for the game that will be evident to fans", said Stephanie Druley, ESPN Senior Vice President, Event and Studio Production.

Witten, one of the sport's finest tight ends and a likely Hall of Famer, retired from the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month to move into the booth. "Joe brings an unrivaled excitement to each broadcast through his play-by-play style". Booger's ability to share candid opinions and insightful observations has made him one of our best analysts.

Tessitore, Witten, McFarland and Salters will make their first appearance together next week at the ESPN Upfront presentation in NY.

Booger McFarland will serve as a field analyst. It has been effortless with them. The offer too good to turn down yanked Witten from his 16th season with the Dallas Cowboys in the middle of draft weekend.

Two-time Super Bowl champion Booger McFarland joins MNF after serving as an ESPN and SEC Network college football analyst the past four years.

This is definitely an interesting assortment of broadcasters on the new Monday Night Football team. We now officially know who will be joining him.

Neil Best first worked at Newsday in 1982, returned in 1985 after a detour to Alaska and has been here since, specializing in high schools, college basketball, the National Football League and most recently sports media and business.
