Chinese broadcaster censors Ireland's entire Eurovision entry

Chinese broadcaster censors Ireland's entire Eurovision entry”

The EBU said in a statement this evening: "On the 9th of May, Chinese broadcaster Mango TV broadcast the first Semi-Final of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest live but two performances were censored".

In response shadow culture minister Steve Reed added: "Can I start by wishing good luck to SuRie, the United Kingdom entry in the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night?" So, we have set you a quiz to test your knowledge of this year's participants.

But after Tuesday's semi-final she was overtaken by Cyprus' Eleni Foureira with a catchy pop song entitled "Fuego".

Both Ireland and Albania qualified for this Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest final and the EBU will not allow entries to be removed from the show.

The singer landed a place in Saturday's live final with his rendition of Together, which featured a love story between two male dancers and rainbow flags on the stage.

However, China's extremely strict broadcasting rules forbids any depiction of gay relationships to be aired.

Lisbon's riverside Praca do Comercio has been converted into a buzzing "Eurovision Village", complete with bars and food trucks, which will broadcast the final on a giant outdoor screen.

Barzilai is the fans' favourite at the contest, according to a poll carried out by OGEA, a network of Eurovision song contest fan clubs from around the globe.

It had been speculated that Russian Federation would not broadcast the Irish performance, but it was shown in full.

Speaking about the experience, Alan said: "It's an incredible feeling".

"It's so important, because not everyone is as liberal as the people in this [Eurovision press conference] room are, and the people I've gotten to meet over the past week".

Barzilai, who reportedly fell down the stairs after it was announced that she had made it to the finals, said she was "proud and excited", and promised "to do whatever I can to bring next year's Eurovision to Israel". I hope they can afford it.
