Seven months on, and Microsoft is expanding gifting even further.

If this project is a reality, it is likely that in the coming weeks we will know more about it.

Microsoft promises additional expansion into other forms of gifting in the future, including paid-for PC and Xbox One applications.

Microsoft at its annual Build conference last week unveiled a five-year, $25 million initiative created to put AI to work for people with disabilities in what could be the tip of the iceberg in the accessibility space. Now though you can do more than that - you can send anyone any games that Microsoft sells on its store.

The Xbox One is slightly different, as you will need to navigate to the product, select to purchase it, highlight the "Buy as Gift" option but instead of putting in the person's e-mail address, you need to input their Gamertag ID from the Xbox Live friends list. On Xbox One, gift recipients will receive a system message with a clickable redemption button.

Xbox Live services are now spread across multiple platforms, ranging from the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

The gift recipient will receive a code for their product along with instructions on how to redeem the code.

There are a few limits on gifting worth noting. And you can only send two gifts every two weeks, for some reason.

Gifting of Xbox 360 and Xbox original games, pre-orders, free products, and consumable downloadable game content such as virtual currency is not allowed. There you'll find a brand new button that says "buy as a gift".
