Police arrest four for stealing allegedly electoral materials — APC Imo Crisis”

On Friday, the party's secretariat in Owerri, Imo State capital, was set on fire, following disputed ward congress in the state. Ikpamezie Innocent, 39, from Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State, who admitted to be the Special Adviser on Electoral matters to Senator Hope Uzodimma representing Orlu Senatorial District of Imo State now in the Senate confessed that all the electoral materials were given to them by Dr. Iyke Njoku, Zonal Coordinator, Owerri Municipality to Senator Hope Uzodimma representing Orlu Senatorial District of Imo State in the Senate.

He said that exhibits recovered from them included: 68 APC result sheets, six APC Local Government Area result sheets, 130 APC delegates nomination forms and six LGA APC ward officers and delegates list.

A statement signed by police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood said the four suspects were arrested at a hotel in Wuse II, Abuja.

He said that the principal suspect, Innocent confessed that all the electoral materials were given to them by Iyke Njoku, Zonal Coordinator, Owerri Municipality, to Senator Uzodimma.

The statement added that the suspects admitted and confessed to the various crime adding an investigation is in progress and effort is being intensified to arrest one other suspects still at large. "My duty is to report to the police and the police have the duty to investigate", he said.

Eke, who said that the unidentified hoodlums attacked the secretariat "just to frustrate the Local Government Areas congress of the party on Saturday", vowed that the exercise must go on. Then Okorocha in company of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, who he had endorsed as his would-be APC governorship candidate in the 2019 election came almost an hour later, after the meeting with Madumere camp had commenced.

He pledged that leaders of the party will not allow the opposition succeed in their evil game.

The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, was said to have been defeated at the congress by opponents led by his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere.

He also urged the leadership of the party to fix a new date for the conduct of the botched ward congress of the party in the state.

He said that the suspended members were allegedly involved in anti-party activities.
