Coinbase Introduces Several New Tools for Institutional Investors

Coinbase Introduces Several New Tools for Institutional Investors”

"There is clear demand from institutional clients and financial services professionals for more specific solutions with regard to cryptocurrencies that address their sophisticated needs".

Coinbase has also announced its plan to launch Coinbase Prime, a new platform built specifically to provide tools and services to institutional investors looking to trade cryptocurrency.

First announced previous year, Coinbase Custody is a crypto storage service directed specifically at large financial institutions, as previously reported by CoinDesk. Coinbase is planning to improve this service by opening an engineering office in Chicago.

He writes, "In partnership with an SEC-regulated broker-dealer, Coinbase Custody is proud to offer a service that couples Coinbase's cryptocurrency security excellence with third-party auditing and financial reporting validation that operates at the high standard of an SEC-regulated, custodial broker-dealer". 'Over the course of the year, Coinbase Markets will introduce new features like low latency performance, on-premise datacenter colocation services, institutional connectivity and access, and settlement and clearing services.

Earlier today, San Francisco-based digital currency exchange Coinbase announced four major products geared entirely towards facilitating and encouraging institutional investment - signaling that the herd is indeed on its way. In a press release announcing the news, the company also confirmed the addition of a new Chicago office tasked with enhancing the development of the Coinbase Markets product offering. Coinbase Prime will be offering lending and margin financial products, Over the Counter [OTC] trading, and algorithmic orders along with the recent market data and research products. Coinbase Prime will promote implementation of cryptocurrency worldwide via giving institutions an opportunity to get closer to this asset class.

Coinbase is also introducing an institutional coverage group, which will offer customer, market, sales and research services to guide exchange users.

This is a brand new online interface to Coinbase's trading platform.

Given the recent interest in blockchain and cryptocurrency from giants like NASDAQ, The New York Stock Exchange, Goldman Sachs, and JP Morgan, it is hardly surprising that Coinbase is seeking to diversify its streams of revenue by catering to Wall Street. The basic idea is to guide these investors through the onboading process and provide them with any help they need (for example, advising them on trading strategies) for navigating "the increasingly complex world of cryptocurrency investing". It will provide a variety of tools and services created to meet the trading needs of the institutional investor. We believe our suite of products and dedicated Institutional Coverage group will accelerate the rate of institutional adoption and create a more mature and diverse market.

"Thank you coinbase for helping large institutional investors invest!"
