Doutie throws shade at former employers Ajax after relegation

Doutie throws shade at former employers Ajax after relegation”

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town have been relegated after being found guilty of fielding an ineligible player, Tendai Ndoro, in the recently completed Absa Premiership season.

By fielding Ndoro‚ Ajax Cape Town contravened Rule 54.1 of the National Soccer League rules read with Article 22.9 of the constitution of the National Soccer League‚ article paragraph 5 of the Safa regulations on the status and transfer of players as well as article 5‚ paragraph 3 of the Federation Internationale de Football Association regulations on the status and transfer which state: "Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season".

Due to the deduction of points, the Cape Town side finishes 16th in the 16-team South African Premier League, and are automatically relegated. "The club is in the process of preparing papers to be filed urgently before the High Court in Johannesburg for the matter to be heard tomorrow (today) morning at 10am, " the club said on Twitter. The PSL charged Ajax with using a player who had already played for two different clubs previously in a single season.

Ajax will now seek an urgent court interdict to stop the relegation/promotion playoffs from taking place. The verdict was delivered by SAFA arbitrator Advocate Mokhari yesterday, bringing to finality the prolonged dispute between the Urban Warriors and the PSL.

Ajax are also fined R50,000 for five matches that they have fielded Ndoro in.

Ajax have 72 hours to appeal against Mokhari's decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Zurich‚ Switzerland.

This means that Ajax drop from 31 to 24 points in the Absa Premisership, as they lose the seven points they gained from matches against Platinum Stars, Polokwane and SuperSports United. In addition Ajax Cape Town were fined a total of R350 000.

The 33-year-old Zimbabwean star was also reprimanded, as he received a two-match suspension.

"Ajax Cape Town are now consulting with their legal team regarding (arbitrator) William Mokhari SC's arbitration ruling released this morning".

Platinum Stars Football Club will now participate in the Promotion play-offs as envisaged in the NSL Handbook read with the Play-off Rules on the dates.

They will be playing against Black Leopards in Thohoyandou on Wednesday afternoon.
