Facebook announces 'Youth Portal' for teenager safety”

They will also get tips on how to stay safe on Facebook and details on the type of data Facebook collects and what it does with it. In that section, there's also a description of Facebook's data policy and another short account about how Facebook uses data to help companies better target their online ads.

Last but not the least, they can even look to the portal for advice on what to do if they feel like they need a break from social media and general guidelines on how to make the most of their time on the internet.

Some of the information that the Youth Portal provides includes safety tips for teenagers to adhere to when posting on Facebook. The social media network has launched Youth Portal, which it claims will be a platform for teens to get information on "all things Facebook".

The portal is available in 60 languages.

Earlier this month, it started showing tips for teens in its News Feed, like how to control who sees what on users' profile, and links to the Bullying Prevention Hub. We're holding more roundtables over the next several months to keep learning from young people about how they use Facebook.

Expanding the safety advisory board: Facebook recently welcomed Project Rockit - an organisation dedicated to tackling bullying in school communities - to its safety advisory board.

"We're excited to launch our Youth Portal, a central place for teens to fellow teens in their own voices, about the issues that matter to them online". This work builds on our existing programs with Skuola.net, Diana Award, Childnet, SaferNet, Learning Links Foundation.
