Maradona named president of Dinamo Brest”

Diego Maradona is regarded by many as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

The Argentine, 57, left Fujairah on April 27 after failing to guide the UAE second-tier side to automatic promotion to the Arabian Gulf League.

Dinamo Brest have appointed Diego Maradona as their new president on a three-year deal.

Brest are looking to challenge the dominance of BATE Borisov, winners of the last 12 league titles, and will be hoping Maradona can work some magic in helping the club to the top of the table.

"Thanks for the confidence and for thinking of me": Diego Maradona.

Dinamo Brest said on its Twitter account that Maradona signed a three-year deal, and will take up the role after the World Cup in Russian Federation ends. "Diego Maradona will be in charge of the team's strategic development and will interact with all its structural subdivisions, including the Junior Academy of the football club", the press service noted.

The man who led Argentina to the World Cup championship in 1986 will likely assume his responsibilities as chairman and sporting director of Dynamo Brest after the 2018 Russia World Cup, during which he will be working as a sports commentator.
