White Sox Game Notes For Tuesday @ Pittsburgh

White Sox Game Notes For Tuesday @ Pittsburgh”

The Chicago White Sox led 4-0 in both games with the Pittsburgh Pirates last week, but the Pirates came back to win in each game.

Starling Marte exited in the first inning Tuesday night at PNC Park with what a team official called "right side discomfort", and Francisco Cervelli exited two innings later shortly after being hit by a pitch on the right forearm.

The Sox haves lost eight of nine and 12 of 14, dropping to a major league-worst 10-28.

The starters for Wednesday's second game of a short interleague series and final meeting of the season between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox weren't set until Tuesday.

After Frazier's homer in the first, Bell had a two-run double and Moran an RBI double to get Pittsburgh off to a fast start against Reynaldo Lopez (0-3). Kyle Crick and Richard Rodriguez completed the seven-hitter for Pittsburgh's league-best seventh shutout of the season. His last time out, he gave up five runs in 1 2/3 innings, including a grand slam, Friday against the Cubs.

Pittsburgh's Gregory Polanco has an extra-base hit (two home runs and two doubles) in each of his last four games. "I feel like, for the most part, we were anticipating slower, earlier and it kind of just worked out for us". Gregory Polanco, who also had two hits, added an RBI double in the sixth.

White Sox: Second baseman Yoan Moncada (left hamstring tightness) was activated from the disabled list and went 1 for 4. He had been out since May 4. Marte doubled and scored in the bottom of the first.

Santiago pitched one inning in relief in that two-game series last week, allowing no hits and striking out one. Cervelli was replaced by Elias Diaz.

For Wednesday's game, the Sox will be bringing out LHP Hector Santiago. He'll be replacing right-hander Carson Fulmer, whose scheduled start was pushed back to Saturday. As for Taillon, he left his last start due to a finger laceration but seems to be okay.
