'I'm going to be the next school shooter': Parkland gunman's cellphone videos

'I'm going to be the next school shooter': Parkland gunman's cellphone videos”

So begins one of three short cellphone videos recorded by Nikolas Cruz at some point before he killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on February 14.

Chilling videos of Nikolas Cruz telling the world he was "the next school shooter" have been released as part of the case against the teenager accused of carrying out the Florida massacre. "It's going to be a big event".

"Today is the day, the day it all begins, the day my massacre begins", Cruz says.

The 19-year-old, who had been expelled for disciplinary reasons, returned to the Florida school and opened fire - killing 14 students and three adult staff members. "And when you see me on the news, you'll all know who I am". He then laughs, "You're all going to die", before making gun sound effects. Pew pew pew pew pew. "The day of my massacre shall begin", Cruz says.

Cruz's suicidal thoughts are expressed as he discusses how his life is nothing and meaningless, Lankford said.

Defence lawyers have offered to have Cruz plead guilty in exchange for a sentence of life in prison, arguing it would spare the victims' families from having to relive the tragedy through what is certain to be a lengthy trial and appellate process.

"I hate everyone and everything", he is heard saying. "From the wrath of my power they will know who I am".

"I had enough of being told what to do and when to do".

The shooter, Nikolas Cruz, has confessed to the shooting and been formally indicted on 17 counts of premeditated murder in the first degree and 17 counts of attempted murder in the first degree for the attack.

"People will die", Cruz said. "He's evil. Repulsive. He deserves to be dead ..."

He talks about being "told what to do" and being treated as an "idiot" and "dumbass". According to CNN, Emma Gonzalez, one of Cruz's classmates at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, said in a speech that his peers reported his behavior "time and time again". "I think we need to focus on keeping our schools safe".

Release of the video "selfies", posted online by the Herald, shed little new light on that question except to suggest Cruz felt he was treated as an outcast.

"When in real life, you're all the dumbass", Cruz said. "You're all stupid and brainwashed by the **** political government programs". "I don't want to see the delight he took in planning the murders of our children".

Prosecutors announced on March 13 that they will seek the death penalty against Cruz, saying the crime "was committed in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner" that was "especially heinous, atrocious or cruel".
