Actor Arbaaz Khan admits to IPL betting, losing a large amount”

"We suspect that Arbaaz Khan had placed bets on IPL matches and want to scrutinise his bank transactions", another police official had told PTI. Police asked whatever they needed in this investigation and I answered them. While reporters and other members of the media kept hurling questions at him, Khan headed towards the Thane Police Station's anti-extortion cell without saying a word. According to Times Now, Arbaaz confessed that "Betting was his hobby". Khan was brought face-to-face with Jalan during his interrogation. Police has also recovered the special line holding machine that was used by Sonu Jalan, one of the bookies, for running the IPL betting racket.

After recording his staement with Thane police, Arbaaz said, "My statement has been recorded. I will continue to cooperate with them". Further investigation revealed that Jalan was the alleged "kingpin" of the racket.

Though officials refused to speak on record, sources said Arbaaz allegedly admitted to betting a huge amount and also losing a bigger amount in the IPL bets after which he was reportedly harassed and threatened by Jalan for coughing the amount.

Police say they have smashed a number of betting syndicates across India during this year´s season, which ended last week.

For those unaware, Sonu Jalan, the top bookie who named Arbaaz after being arrested is said to an aid of worldwide terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

The city police on Friday issued summons to the 50- year-old actor-producer for recording his statement today in connection with the betting racket.

Senior Inspector and head of the Anti-Extortion Cell, Pradeep Sharma has stated that amid the inquiry session it was discovered that there has been a probable "connection" between Khan and Jalan.

"Jalan had arranged a match-fixing meeting in Dubai", Sharma said.
