SpaceX goes for its 11th launch of the year early on Monday

SpaceX goes for its 11th launch of the year early on Monday”

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket carried the payload from Space Launch Complex 40 in Florida at around 12:45 a.m. local time. The first stage successfully landed during a flight in September, but was allowed to crash into the sea Monday because it's being discontinued.

Payer traveled from SES headquarters in Luxembourg to watch the launch of his company's SES-12 satellite. Weather officials said this is from a weak surface front that will be bring west-southwest winds during the launch window. The SES satellite will be one of the company's largest.

The company had delayed the launch over the weekend, tweeting on Thursday that it was "standing down" a Friday morning attempt to run additional tests on the second stage booster.

The 12,000-pound SES-12 spacecraft, built by Airbus Defence and Space, will deliver high-speed data to across Asia and the Pacific.

SpaceX's next launch is a cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station, set for the end of the month.

Engineers and technicians with SpaceX are presently assessing the health and resiliency of that booster to ensure that these Block 5 variants can be flown multiple times without significant refurbishment.

If you're up late Sunday night, or early Monday morning, the webcast below should begin about 15 minutes before the anticipated launch time.
