New NASA Chief Vows US Will Always Have Astronauts in Orbit

New NASA Chief Vows US Will Always Have Astronauts in Orbit”

It may, but most Americans still believe NASA's role will be vital in the future.

"We were struck by the finding about public priorities for NASAs mission", Cary Funk of Pew Research Center tells Axios.

The journey from Kazakhstan to the orbiting laboratory is expected to take two days with the trio set to make it by Friday morning.

Although the media seems infatuated with private companies like Musk's SpaceX, Americans remain traditionally confident in NASA.

American, German and Russian astronauts were on board.

A faster 4-orbit/6-hour or a 2-orbit/3-hour journey is usually possible, but space station positioning requirements to ensure a daytime landing for the departing Soyuz MS-07 crew earlier in the week prevented the possibility of a quicker trip for the new crew, SpaceFlight.com reported.

Space exploration has changed drastically in the decades following the first landing on the moon by United States astronauts.

Also, half of Americans (50%) believe people will routinely travel to space as tourists within the next 50 years. However, a great deal of Americans surveyed in the pool tend to be skeptical about whether private companies will minimize space debris.

The astronaut-carrying version of the Dragon includes seven seats, a bank of monitors offering the crew real-time flight data, a climate-control system for added comfort, and plenty of windows so the space travelers can gaze in awe at the stunning scenery.

Political leanings do play a part when it comes to assessing NASA's priorities, especially in climate issues, which is a top priority for more Democrats (78 percent) than Republicans (44 percent).

Twenty-six percent of Americans have a great deal of confidence that private companies will be able to build safe and reliable spacecraft, and 23 percent don't have too much confidence, or have no confidence at all.
