Trump rips Canada and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in tweets from Singapore”

After President Trump left, from Air Force One, he rage-tweeted an attack on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and announced the USA was revoking its agreement to accept the joint statement of the G-7 members.

Moving onto tariffs, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau denounced Trump's plan to slap hefty tariffs on steel and aluminum imports on key USA trading partners.

Trudeau also said Canada would move forward with retaliatory measures on July 1 in response to tariffs on steel and aluminium imports into the USA from Canada, Mexico and European Union (EU) countries announced by Trump on May 31.

The annual G7 summit appeared to have weathered tensions over Trump's threats of a trade war on Saturday - until the US president pulled out of a joint statement while citing "false statements" by Trudeau.

Asked about Navarro's comments, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said, according to reporter Daniel Dale, "Canada does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks".

The president also tweeted from aboard Air Force One that due to "Justin's false statements" the USA would not sign on with the other six members of the G-7 to a joint communique that was to follow the meeting.

Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un converged on this island city state Sunday ahead of one of the most unusual and highly anticipated summits in recent world history, a sit-down Tuesday morning meant to settle a stand-off over Pyongyang's nuclear arsenal. But, Trump's defenders today say that he is simply standing up for America.

In the week leading up to the the G-7 Summit President Trump engaged in the most Trumpian sort of diplomacy: he very publicly attacked out closest allies.

In the two tweets that ended US support for the joint G-7 statement, Trump accused Trudeau of having made "false statements" during a prior press conference.

And GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger said he was "confused" when he saw the remarks from Navarro. The official, Peter Tusk tweeted that "there's a special place in heaven for Justin Trudeau".

"That's what weak, dishonest Justin Trudeau did", Navarro said. In a tweet, he depicted Trudeau as two-faced, saying the prime minister had been "meek and mild" during the meetings, only to lash out afterward.

But with the summit ending in a war of words, Abe's attempt to defuse the conflict over US trade policy during the meeting apparently had little effect on Trump after all. "It is essentially double crossing", Kudlow told CNN's Jake Tapper. "I don't understand the obsession with trade relations with Canada", he said on Fox News, given that Canada is the biggest single buyer of American goods and services in the world.

Trump may not be the free trader Kudlow describes him to be.

Mr Trump has infuriated the European Union, Canada and Mexico by imposing tariffs on steel and aluminium imports. They report a really high surplus on trade with us.

Germany and France are also standing by the jointly agreed communique. Trump tweeted on Thursday, June 7, the day before the summit started.
