America's Got Talent victor dies aged 42”

Neal Boyd, an opera singer who won NBC's "America's Got Talent" and dabbled in Missouri politics, died June 10 at his mother's house in Sikeston, Mo. The opera singer was only 42 years old.

A local hero in his home state of Missouri, local officials even grew to nickname Neal "the voice of Missouri" due to the multiple public appearance he made in the decade since his "America's Got Talent" win.

He added: "Neal was in heart failure, kidney failure and had liver disease".

Boyd performs at Rockefeller Center in New York, NY on December 3, 2008.

According to TMZ, in early 2017 Boyd blacked out while driving and got into an accident that left him and his mother badly injured.

"I didn't realize we were poor until my mama told me I was, but we got through", Boyd had said during the show.

"It's a very slow progress", he continued.

Mr. Boyd also ran unsuccessfully as a Republican for a southeast-Missouri U.S. House seat, losing in the general election in 2012 and in the primary in 2014. "I shattered a lot of bones, and shattered my hip, which has left me nearly unable to use that leg for now", he said. "It's been hard, because you can't get up on stage right now, you can't perform for the audiences and you can't really do too much recording or traveling". Just be grateful that you survived.
