England will not sledge about ball-tampering, says captain Eoin Morgan

England will not sledge about ball-tampering, says captain Eoin Morgan”

Scotland enjoyed the greatest victory in their cricket history by holding their nerve to beat world number one-ranked England by six runs in a thrilling one-day worldwide at Edinburgh on Sunday.

Scotland's shock one-day global win over England has boosted their chances of securing Test-playing status, the country's cricket board has said.

The Scotland skipper, who impressed with the bat by hitting 58 at the top of the order to set the tone for the rest of the day as they posted 371, was well aware of just how big the win was in terms of Scottish cricket and even world cricket. 'We've been waiting for this for so long.

England arguably plumbed new depths at the last World Cup when they exited in the group stages with barely a whimper. "Teams with massive potential like Afghanistan, Ireland, Scotland along with many others have to be given more opportunities to play against the more experienced teams", he added.

Asked if Scotland had sent a message to the ICC with this win, Sharif replied: 'I'm not going to say anything - they've seen it all today'.

Eoin Morgan's men are the top-ranked side in this format and, on a small ground with a flat pitch, Scotland's score did not look remotely safe as Jonny Bairstow thundered his way to 105 from 59 balls - becoming the first England batsman to register hundreds in three successive ODIs.

The Oval will be just Agar's fifth ODI since he made his debut against England at Old Trafford in 2015 - although English audiences are more likely to remember him for his 98 on Test debut batting at No. 11 in the 2013 Ashes - and he now feels a more rounded cricketer.

England remain considerable favourites for the five-match series against an Australia side missing six first-choice players - David Warner, Steven Smith, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood - but the visitors are chipper after two warm-up wins.

But they lost both openers in quick succession to be 107 for two.

For us, it's great England did not win because you always like to go into a series with a win.

However, England were undermined by a succession of soft dismissals after Bairstow holed out in the 18th over.

Victory completed a notable double over England for the Sole family.

Jos Buttler will return to an England team still recovering from Sunday's shock six-run defeat to Scotland.
