Real Madrid Announce Zinedine Zidane's Replacement

Real Madrid Announce Zinedine Zidane's Replacement”

Spain manager Julen Lopetegui will take over as Real Madrid manager following the conclusion of the World Cup in Russian Federation, the club have confirmed.

Real Madrid have announced that Spain boss Julen Lopetegui has been appointed as the club's new head coach.

Lopetegui, who has been in charge of the national team for the past two years, has agreed a three-year contract at the Bernabeu.

"Julen Lopetegui will join the club after Spain's participation in the World Cup, after two years leading the national team".

However, it was announced today he would replace Zinedine Zidane in the Real hot seat after the competition.

His decision to quit as Madrid coach suddenly left the Spanish giants in limbo.

He'll now become the manager of a club for which he made one senior appearance and has worked as a B team coach in the past.

"You have to be focused on having a good World Cup - we are all good".

Lopetegui impressed in quickly blending together a new side which won nine of their 10 World Cup qualifiers and is among the favourites for this summer's finals in Russian Federation.

Zidane resigned as manager following an unprecedented era of success that saw Real win three consecutive Champions League titles, most recently defeating Liverpool 3-1 in Ukraine to complete the treble.

While it remains to be seen how Lopetegui's decision will affect his team and the players in the build-up to the competition, the timing of the announcement means that there will be an unwanted distraction throughout their time in Russian Federation.

With Spain, he has won 14 and drawn six since succeeding Vicente del Bosque in 2016. They also play Morocco and Iran in the group stages.
