Schematics for the next iPhone Plus model leak

Schematics for the next iPhone Plus model leak”

New schematics showing off the design of the much-anticipated smartphones for this year, the Apple iPhone X Plus, and the budget variant of the iPhone X have been spotted on the internet. This could mean that the most expensive model could be priced similarly to the current iPhone X while the "budget" 6.1-inch iPhone could be priced as low as the iPhone 8.

The 6.1-inch iPhone is labeled as the "budget" model and is expected to offer a single camera and Face ID 1.0 - the same as on the iPhone X and occupying a larger notch than the one pictured in the 6.5-inch iPhone's render. According to a report on GSMArena, the upcoming device may be "more compact" than the current iPhone 8 Plus. The schematic does show three grooves that are expected to house the iPhone X Plus' triple-rear camera setup. It might also feature Apple's first-generation Face ID technology, while the iPhone X Plus will be bumped up to a second generation version.

Also leaked is a blueprint for a "budget" iPhone which also looks rather similar to iPhone X, but still has some noticeable differences.

The phone should also feature the Face ID system found in the current iPhone X. This will use the multiple camera sensors that can be seen in the notch on the leaked schematics. Currently Huawei's P20 Pro smartphone is the first one to sport a triple camera system, which includes a primary sensor, a telephoto lens, and a monochrome lens.

The schematics were obtained by Forbes from accessory maker Ghostek, so they're not necessarily Apple's own schematics, but there's a fair chance Ghostek does have access to design information, since it will need that in order to have cases ready for the launch of the iPhone XI range.

The 6.1-inch phone measures 147.12 x 71.52mm which is taller than the X. In a recent research note, Ming-Chi Kuo said that pricing for Apple's upcoming iPhones for the year 2018 could start at $600.
