Trudeau 's Remarks to Cost Canada 'a Lot of Money'

Trudeau 's Remarks to Cost Canada 'a Lot of Money'”

President Trump is lashing out at Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over trade issues.

"I own that, that was my mistake, those were my words", Navarro said.

"My mission was to send a strong signal of strength", Navarro said at the event, the Journal reported.

"I've never seen language like this, least of all from subordinates of the president directed at the prime minister of their greatest friend and ally", Mulroney said.

On that note, Trump had cut short his trip to La Malbaie in Canada where the much-awaited G7 summit took place.

"Canadians are polite and reasonable but we will also not be pushed around", he had said.

"And that's what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference".

At a press conference on Tuesday, Trump said Trudeau's comments at a press conference after the G7 summit in Canada would "cost a lot of money for the people of Canada".

A day before, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow also lashed out at Trudeau.

At a news conference in Singapore, the president said Trudeau only made his comments about not being bullied because he thought Trump was on an airplane and would not hear about them.

On 1 June, the USA imposed a 25% tariff for steel and 10% for aluminium on imports from the European Union (EU), Canada, and Mexico.

Navarro said on Fox that his words came "straight from Air Force One".

While on this side of the border there was a rare sign of unity in the House of Commons Monday as Members of Parliament passed an NDP motion denouncing both the trade tariffs and Trump's personal attacks.

Soon after Trump left the G7 summit he tweeted that he had instructed the House of Representatives not to endorse the final communique of the G7 summit due to Trudeau's "false statements at his news conference", as the Canadian prime minister dismissed U.S. metal tariffs as "insulting" and announced retaliatory measures.

"He is not going to permit any show of weakness on the trip to negotiate with North Korea, nor should he", Kudlow said. Trump reportedly pointed to specific trade deficits, particularly in the trade of goods, as evidence that the other leaders were taking advantage of the US.

Last Friday, Trump - feeling slighted by Trudeau, who took a tough stance toward USA tariffs by saying he wouldn't tolerate being "pushed around" - launched an attack via Twitter, calling the leader "dishonest" and "weak".

Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch told CNN on Monday that Navarro "should have kept his big mouth shut because I don't think that helps us inform policy and I think frankly it was out of line".
