Trump calls De Niro 'very low IQ individual' for Tony Awards outburst

Trump calls De Niro 'very low IQ individual' for Tony Awards outburst”

US President Donald Trump has lashed out at Hollywood actor Robert De Niro after the star denounced him with an expletive-laden speech at an awards ceremony.

"If Donald Trump is going to insult Robert De Niro's intelligence, he probably should learn how to spell 'too, '" one user said pointing out the fact that POTUS wrote "to many shots" instead of "too".

The actor was bleeped when he used the F-word.

"It's no longer down with Trump", he said. The expletives sparked a roaring reaction from the audience, with numerous celebrities standing up.

"De Niro threw his arms in the air defiantly as the crowd cheered and gave him a standing ovation".

On that note, Trump has responded to De Niro's comments via Twitter. "I watched him last night and truly believe he may be "punch-drunk".

Others recalled De Niro's famous remark from the movie.

De Niro, a noted liberal, has been increasingly critical of Mr Trump, a Republican, at smaller show business events in the past year, but none of them had the profile of the Tony awards.

"First, I wanna say, 'F-k Trump, '" De Niro said.

Hours later, Trump addressed the actor in a tweet.

He famously said he wanted to punch Trump "in the face" during the 2016 US Election, called him a "f***ing fool" and the "baby-in-chief" in January 2018, and the following month said the US was now suffering from a "case of temporary insanity".

Trump then went on to brag about the economy in a follow up tweet, adding a final jibe: "Wake Up Punchy!".
