Companies remove A,B,O letters to illustration need for blood donations”

According to Donor Recruitment Director Mary Pucel, the Red Cross has seen "new blood donors decrease by 80,000 a year for the last four years". Blood stocks are also essential in natural and man-made disasters.

The campaign aims to highlight stories of people whose lives have been saved through blood donation as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood and to motivate people who have never given blood to begin doing so, particularly young people. So, what people don't understand is that you don't have to just give blood.

As part of an global movement, the American Red Cross is launching the Missing Types campaign today to recruit new blood donors - and those who have not given recently - to ensure lifesaving blood is available for patients.

The collection centre of focus for this year is the Ocho Rios Baptist Church in St Ann, where donors are able to give blood between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on World Blood Donor Day.

"We're calling on everyone to do what they can to spread the word, host a blood drive or simply take an hour out of their day to donate", she said in the release. "We hope you will consider donating blood and helping touch lives as our family's lives were touched during my husband's illness".

The Red Cross has more information at its website here. "But the truth is blood is needed every two seconds in the United States". It's not just blood: it's keeping families together. Thirty-eight percent of the population is eligible to donate blood.

He has asked people to donate before they go on their holidays.

Canadian Blood Services manages the national supply of blood, blood products and stem cells, and related services for all the provinces and territories (excluding Quebec).

In addition to this already thriving donor platform, the NZ Blood Service Donor App is undergoing some exciting changes that will become available on 14th June 2018.

Blood and blood products are a critical part of everyday medical care including major surgeries, medical procedures, cancer treatments and managing disease.
