Tyson Fury beats Sefer Seferi in comeback fight

Tyson Fury beats Sefer Seferi in comeback fight”

The unbeaten former world heavyweight champion takes on Albania's Sefer Seferi in Manchester on Saturday.

Sefer Seferi was the first fighter in nearly three years to share the ring with the returning Fury but the Albanian heavyweight quit on his stool after four rounds of action which left the Manchester Arena largely unsatisfied on Saturday night.

"I'm sure Frank Warren is going to keep me busy and the calibre of opponents will keep rising", Fury said.

Fury, meanwhile, insisted that he plans to win back at least one of the titles he unified in Dusseldorf two-and-a-half-years ago by the end of 2018.

It was always comfortable for Fury in his first fight since winning the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) titles from Ukraine's Wladimir Klitschko on points in November 2015.

"I was enjoying myself too much and I apologized to the referee", Fury said at the postfight news conference. But he took me a few rounds, which I was happy with. I will be better next time.

Seferi is 39, has not boxed at an elite level, was 7 inches smaller and almost 70 pounds lighter than Fury. He needs to get the ring rust off.

Fury (26-0, 19 KO) is next scheduled to fight on August 18 in Belfast against an opponent yet to be named.

Fury coasted to victory over Seferi who was pulled out of the contest at the end of the fourth round.

Seferi (23-2), a career cruiserweight, tried in vain to reach Fury's head with sluggish right uppercuts.

"Bomber" took to Twitter after Fury's comeback fight to promise that he would be able to knock out the undefeated heavyweight.

But just boxing again seemed unlikely at times for Fury during a troublesome period away from boxing.

The ultimate goal for Fury is a lucrative all-British showdown with fellow unbeaten heavyweight Anthony Joshua but the 29-year-old remains patient as he aims to return to the pinnacle of world boxing.

Fury was eventually given a backdated two-year ban and in his exile he piled on the pounds.
