Woman strangles bobcat to death in front yard in Georgia

Woman strangles bobcat to death in front yard in Georgia”

"There was no way I was going to die".

Once the bobcat stopped moving, she yelled for someone to call 911.

Due to the encounter, Phillips suffered broken fingers on both her hands and cuts and bruises all over her body. As a result, she knew something about the animal's behavior and how to fight back.

As it happens, she said her father-in-law used to be a bobcat trapper.

DeDe Phillips, 46, had just finished taking a selfie with a bumper sticker at the back of her truck which read "Women who behave rarely make history" - a picture she planned on sending her husband - when she noticed the wildcat walk into her yard.

It wasn't until the next day that she found out the bobcat tested positive for rabies, and she had her first round of rabies shots.

She grabbed the cat by its throat and didn't let go. Knowing that her 5-year old granddaughter was sleeping inside the home, she took action after the bobcat jumped on her, she says.

She snapped a photo of the cat and it 'took two steps and was on top of came for my face'.

The Athens-Banner Herald said Phillips' cousin Amy Leann Mize has set up a crowdfunding page to raise money to help her cover her rabies shots. As of Sunday morning, EST, the Hart County grandmother had collected $25K. In this photo, a rescued bobcat waits to be fed at The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado, Oct. 20, 2011.

Suddenly, the bobcat attacked and she was knocked to her knees.

The Hart County Sheriff's Office confirmed that deputies responded to an incident involving a bobcat attack last week, adding that the animal also had stab wounds.
