Eliminate, or refresh each week, all sources of standing water where mosquitoes can breed, including water in bird baths, ponds, flowerpots, wading pools, old tires, and any other containers.

Change the water in birdbaths and plant pots or drip trays at least once a week.

Make sure that your doors and windows have tight-fitting screens to keep out mosquitoes.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends using an insect repellent that contains the active ingredients DEET, Picaridin, IR3535 or the plant-based Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus.
