Van Marwijk disappointed with 1-1 Draw against Denmark

Van Marwijk disappointed with 1-1 Draw against Denmark”

None were able to get past Denmark keeper Kasper Schmeichel, who made two fine saves in the dying minutes.

The Danes came out on the front foot early in the second half but Australia soon began to threaten again and enjoy the greater possession especially in midfield through Rogic and Mooy.

"In the last match, he only had one assist, right?" He is a player who can change matches for us.

During World Cup qualifying, Eriksen scored 11 goals for the Danes, third-best in Europe behind Poland's Robert Lewandowski with 16 and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo with 15.

"We're all very confident [of making the knockouts]".

"I also said here, [after the match] against France, I was disappointed and also proud because we also deserve more, I think". The win means that France is now through to the round of 16, whilst Peru is eliminated from the tournament. "He is down to Earth and you wouldn't think that he was as world class as he is".

There have been calls from Australian fans and pundits for Van Marwijk to introduce 38-year-old record scorer Tim Cahill, who was left on the bench for their defeat to France.

Despite their proactive attacking game, the Peru players could not harvest even one goal or one point on the board in the World Cup. The team missed the 2014 tournament in Brazil. Others who have goals in four consecutive World Cups include Pele, Uwe Seeler and Miroslav Klose.

But the veteran Dutchman kept faith with the side that performed admirably against France; Andrew Nabbout, Tom Rogic, Robbie Kruse and Mathew Leckie comprising a forward line full of bustle and industry but with just 21 worldwide goals between them.

During the pre-match media conference, suggestions to Van Marwijk that Cahill - the country's record goalscorer featuring at his fourth World Cup - could start were dismissed with a succinct "everybody has a chance".

Hareide expects Australia to zero in on Eriksen but suggested that might not rattle the hardworking playmaker known for his free kicks. They're going to be very cautious and careful with him.

"The guys have been playing well, it's hard, we had an era there with the [Mark] Vidukas and these sort of players playing in the Premier League week in, week out so it was a high calibre of player. Although yesterday we fell a little bit short, we know that there's still a lot more in this team".
