Hummels to miss Germany-Sweden, confirms Low

Hummels to miss Germany-Sweden, confirms Low”

Germany are facing a make-or-break game against Sweden in Sochi on Saturday after losing 1-0 to Mexico in their opening match in Moscow. The debate has focused on the German lineup and the role of Marco Reus.

Defender Mats Hummels was out of action with a neck injury, Jerome Boateng was sent off in the second half and Thomas Mueller did little right on the evening.

"I really have no say in this".

"I have no problem with that at all, I can live with it", said Khedira, referring to the criticism.

"Our players played a game they will not regret, they played as one and did their utmost", said South Korea coach Shin Tae Yong. It is unlikely he will start, with Germany needing to be as agile and aggressive against the Koreans as they were against Sweden.

The Germans were at risk of being eliminated after Sweden scored first. "But this trust in players who have been playing for three, four years at the top level will not be shaken after a single match", the coach said at Sochi's Fisht Stadium on Friday. The Belgian squad was so superior that Panama admitted after the match the squad was thankful it didn't lose by more.

It begins, however, with what should be a one sided Group G affair, as Belgium take on Tunisia.

After not taking part in the 1950 World Cup, the Germans won the trophy in 1954 and have always made it to at least the last eight since then. However, Tunisia will be without Mouez Hassen after he injured his shoulder during the 2-1 loss to England, per BBC Sport.

Now Tunisia surely needs a win to avoid eventual elimination. We're well abled to win these matches. Jansson was thrust into a starting role for the opening match against South Korea after Victor Lindelof became ill.

South Korea has lost four of its last six matches, which includes friendlies.

Germany pressed hard for the victor but it looked like Sweden had held out until Kroos curled in a free kick from a right angle to spark scenes of huge relief among the Germans. It has the national squad considering how far it can go in this tournament. "We suffered. If you don't score an early goal and we have the chances then it's going to be hard until the end".
