The newest 'Overwatch' hero is”

So, when Blizzard revealed this teaser tweet today, I expected a reveal of Hammond in all his simian glory. As an unexpected side effect, several of them exhibited exceptional growth in physical size and brain function. The ball-shaped mecha-which is called a Wrecking Ball-rolls in, shows off its vast gun power, and the top opens up to reveal an adorable hamster inside.

Before the base's fall, Hammond escaped from his cage. It is here that Hammond built his own ball-shaped mech: Wrecking Ball. Though they'd always find him and return him to his cell, they never figured out the true objective behind his nightly escapades.

Toy blocks have nibbles on them in Hammond's room. Its subjects rebelled, launching human scientists into space.

Wrecking Ball is available for testing right now on the Overwatch PTR. Winston escaped to Earth after the inevitable ape uprising, and that's pretty much the last we'd heard of Horizon. Hammond sensed his opportunity. "Wrecking Ball" became notorious in the mech arena, upgrading his mech to a level where Hammond was able to survive the journey out of the Junker-controlled outback.

Wrecking Ball's combination of tinkering and bruiser-style tanking should make the hero a very interesting addition to the roster. Enables high speed collisions to damage and knockback enemies.

Wrecking Ball's ultimate ability is the Minefield; upon activation, Wrecking Ball deploys a massive number of proximity mines within the immediate vicinity. Totally unclear, but odds are Blizzard will release hero details soon once the applause dies down for the chutzpah to follow up its previously-announced characters - amoral geneticist, terrorist leader and battle paladin - with a hamster.

Adaptive Shield provides shields for Wrecking Ball that increase in effectiveness depending on the number of nearby enemies.
