WhatsApp for iOS update adds new group admins options”

Facebook is assuring users that the feature is now rolling out all around the world so it could just take a bit of time to become available. The application now allows users to download their data and transfer it.

San Francisco: Aiming to take on encrypted messaging platform Telegram, WhatsApp has released a new feature for its groups which is essentially a "one-way broadcast" communication stream.

If you have not received the latest WhatsApp update, go to your app store, and manually update the application. The new "Send Messages" tab is available on version 2.18.70 on iPhone and version 2.18.201 on Android (stable).

To enable this new feature, users have to open "Group Info", and select "Only Admins". With the new update, admins will be able to use a toggle switch in the group settings to make it so that they are the only user who can send messages into the group. The new option has been added in the Settings menu under Account / Change number. WhatsApp will hide the chat text input bar, alerting the user that a message can not be sent. "It also reflects the addition of payment interoperability features we've added since the beta started", a WhatsApp spokesperson told PTI. The "Send Messages" feature is a useful addition that can remove group clutter.

"We'll be updating our WhatsApp payments Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to provide simpler language on how the payments feature operates". Enter your email to be subscribed to our newsletter.
