Samsung Galaxy S9 sending users private pictures to people

Samsung Galaxy S9 sending users private pictures to people”

The mostly likely cause for the problem is a recent update to Samsung Messages, the default texting app for Samsung phones.

That's because posters to Reddit and the Samsung forums say Samsung Messages is malfunctioning.

"Last night around 2:30 am, my phone sent [my girlfriend] my entire photo gallery over text but there was no record of it on my messages app". One user said that his Galaxy smartphone sent ALL of his photos to his girlfriend. What's even worse is that the app reportedly leaves no evidence of photos being sent, which means users won't know when their phone may have unwittingly sent sensitive photos to a friend or co-worker until some time has passed. RCS is supposed to improve texting by adding features like group chat, video and GIF support and file and location sharing.

According to Gizmodo, Samsung is actively looking into the matter, but it's not yet clear why this is happening or how widespread it might be - particularly if it's true that these pictures are being sent without leaving any record. Until then, there are two easy fixes for the concerned users: 1.

T-Mobile reportedly told Gizmodo that "It's not a T-Mobile issue", pointing them back to Samsung. TechCrunch has also reached out to T-Mobile for comment.

If you're using Samsung's Messages software, and are anxious about unapproved picture texts, find the application in the apps section of your device's settings, then go into its permissions, and disable access to storage.

The good news is that the issue appears to be limited only to modern Samsung Galaxy series, such as S9, S9 Plus, and Note 8, and not to all Samsung handsets.

This can be done by going to Settings - Apps - Samsung Messages - Permissions - Storage.
