All 12 boys and coach safe after Thailand cave rescue

All 12 boys and coach safe after Thailand cave rescue”

Today, the four remaining boys were confirmed to have been rescued and were taken to hospital after Reuters reported that those in charge of the rescue mission were "hopeful" all 12 boys plus the coach would be out today.

Chiang Rai Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn says the rescue mission began at 10.08am and involves 19 divers.

The group was led out in three batches by a team of 13 global divers flanked by Thai Navy Seals, who greeted each successful rescue with a "Hooyah" on their Facebook page.

They were trapped in the Tham Luan Nang Non cave that became flooded by monsoon rains while they were exploring it after a soccer practice on June 23.

British divers found the 13, huddled on a muddy bank in a partly flooded chamber several kilometres inside the complex, on Monday last week.

The first eight boys rescued are in good mental and physical health and are asking for chocolate, officials said Tuesday, although two were on antibiotics after being tested for pneumonia.

In a new video showing the children for the first time since their rescue, some of the boys - who range in age from 11 to 16 - are seen sitting up in their hospital beds with masks over their face.

They are still being quarantined from their parents because of the risk of infection and will probably be kept in hospital for a week to undergo tests, officials said.

Four of the boys were carried out on stretchers on Sunday and four more on Monday.

The first of the rescued boys were due to be reunited with their parents on Wednesday provided they wear protective suits as medics work to rule out any infections.

And Manchester United were quick to react to the positive news of the children's safety, releasing a short statement via Twitter to invite the team to watch them play at Old Trafford in the upcoming season.

Nineteen team members have entered the cave for the third rescue mission, he added.

Four were rescued on Sunday and another four were rescued in a faster operation on Monday, after two weeks trapped in the cave complex in north-western Thailand.

Heavy rains lashed the northern Thai region late Monday and a steady downpour has continued Tuesday.

Musk said the submarine, which is made from the liquid oxygen tube of SpaceX's Falcon rocket, is small enough to fit through the cave system's narrow passageways.

A spokesperson from the Thai public health authority said that they were in "high spirits" and also claimed that as they are football players, they have high immune systems.

But he added rescuers may need more than 20 hours, to replan and replenish oxygen supplies, to be ready to mount the next mission. "Leaving here in case it may be useful in the future".

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha visited the cave to inspect the operation, with navy rescuers giving him a rousing cheer.
