Drake takes over Wireless Festival after DJ Khaled cancels headlining set

Drake takes over Wireless Festival after DJ Khaled cancels headlining set”

They wrote: "Due to a scheduling conflict related to filming of the The Four, DJ Khaled was not able to commit to perform at Wireless Festival".

But Wireless had promised that they were working on something special "that won't disappoint" to compensate for Khaled missing the event.

Davido's performance was made extra colourful as he took to the main stage immediately after the English National Team had just sealed qualification into the Semi-finals of the World Cup 2018 in Russian Federation following a 2 nil victory over Sweden. DJ Khaled is doing "man ah cool... man ahh just ease u know" in a pool that doesn't look anywhere like Finsbury Park.

Performances of his big hits God's Plan and Nice For What? went down well with the crowd.

Fans took to Twitter to express their joy at seeing Drake on stage, while others were sad to be missing the gig.

"Have some respect for your fans", wrote one follower.

Another said: "Drake turning up at #Wireless to replace @djkhaled is the best substitution of this #WorldCup period".

"Drake at #wireless. That crowd sounds MENTAL", one commented.

In 2017, Wizkid was the only Nigerian who featured at the Wireless Festival.

Listen to Newsbeat live at 12:45 and 17:45 every weekday on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra - if you miss us you can listen back here.

American rapper Cardi B also pulled out of appearing at Wireless earlier this year when she revealed her pregnancy.
