Thai soccer team pay tribute to former Navy SEAL from hospital”

Adelaide anaesthetist Dr Richard Harris and his diving partner Craig Challen, from Perth, have returned home following the operation, with the boys expected to be discharged from hospital next week. Officials said they don't want the boys to give interviews to the press, citing worries they could cause them to feel guilt or shame.

"Regarding infections, through the medical evaluations in the first days there may be some of them that had minor pneumonia, but now all is cleared, no fever", Piyasakol said.

A park area around the mouth got trampled by the hundreds of rescuers, and media workers, who flocked to help with the mission and to report on it.

The rescue effort to extract all 13 people took three days, with the coach being the last person rescued on Tuesday, July 10.

Doctors say they are in good health following a successful three-day operation which ended July 10 when teams of Navy Seals and worldwide cave diving experts hauled the last five members of the team to safety.

"When you see Australians who are modest turn up in these most hard situations around the world and they just do what they believe is the right thing", he said.

A British driver involved in the rescue initially said the boys were given ketamine but Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-O-Cha clarified that it was an anti-anxiety medication, and that they were still conscious.

The boys, rescued a week ago after more than two weeks trapped in the partially flooded cave, remain quarantined in a hospital in Chiang Rai.

The boys are out of their hospital beds.

"We (can) never thank you enough for what you've done for the kids, their families and Thailand".

Doctors say they are in good health following a successful three-day rescue operation which ended when teams of Thai navy SEALs and global cave diving experts hauled the last five members of the team and their coach to safety.

Inside the freezing cave, the coach and another boy hugged Titun to keep him warm, said his father.

The boy, who was trapped on a muddy ledge without food, added: "I want pork knuckle rice".

"They are the ones who were responsible for their own morale and really their own safety and without them being in the state they were in we couldn't have done anything".

Officials also released video of the rescue effort carried out by Thai Navy SEALs in the dark cave. All 13 offered thanks for the support they've been given.

Tanawat Viboonrungruang, the father of the youngest boy, 11-year-old Chanin, told CNN on Friday that his son had just wanted to "visit the cave for an hour".

Dr Harris assessed the health of the boys and their coach, determining who needed to get out of the cave quickest and who could wait longer.
