Trump flays ‘stupidity’ of United States policy on Russian Federation..”

Russian President Vladimir Putin gave President Donald Trump a World Cup soccer ball during a press conference Monday in Helsinki - which the USA leader said he'd gift to his son.

Kasparov, who is also the chairman of the Human Rights Foundation and a noted anti-Putin columnist, was far from convinced that President Trump is playing 4D chess. "We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy, and we will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security".

Putin then took a crack, saying, "President Trump mentioned the issue of the so-called interference of Russia in the American elections, and I had to reiterate things I said several times, including during our personal contacts, that the Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere in internal American affairs, including election process".

Sen. John McCain, the 2008 GOP presidential nominee and Trump foil, called it "one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory".

When asked about Coat's assessment in an interview with CBS news Saturday, President Trump said "I don't know if I agree with that".

"Coming close on the heels of President Trump's bombastic and erratic conduct towards our closest friends and allies in Brussels and Britain, today's press conference marks a recent low point in the history of the American Presidency". Trump, instead of outright rebuking Russian Federation for interfering in the 2016 election, pinned blame on the US intelligence community instead. "I really think the world wants to see us get along".

Afterward, Trump's national intelligence director, Dan Coats, restated the consensus of United States intelligence: "We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy, and we will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security".

Coats responded hours after Trump, standing alongside Putin in Helsinki, said that "my people" including Coats, "came to me and some others, they said they think it's Russian Federation". "I think that's an incredible offer, OK?"

Senator Lindsey Graham strongly criticised Mr Trump for failing to deliver a strong warning to Russian Federation.

Mueller's office has tried to serve summonses on the defendants demanding that they appear in court, but prosecutors say the Office of the Prosecutor General of Russian Federation declined to accept the summonses. Trump was an advocate for the U.S. World Cup bid. "A U.S. president on foreign soil talking to our biggest enemy, or adversary, or competitor.is essentially letting the guy get away with this".

Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich - who, like Flake, has mulled a 2020 primary challenge to Trump - said that Trump was "wrong" in his comments and "was not in America's best interests".

When asked whether he wanted Mr. Trump to win, President Putin smiled.

"Let's be very clear, just so everybody knows: Russian Federation did meddle with our elections", said House Speaker Paul Ryan. He called the appointment of a special counsel on Russian interference and the involvement of U.S. persons in that effort, Robert Mueller III, a "disgrace" to the country and an impediment to his own efforts to improve ties with Russia.

Trump for his part blamed bad relations between Moscow and Washington on the USA investigation into alleged Russian election meddling.
