Trump Denies He Knew Of His Son's Trump Tower Meeting With Russians

Trump Denies He Knew Of His Son's Trump Tower Meeting With Russians”

He even retained Bill and Crooked Hillary's lawyer. "If they rely on him ... it would destroy whatever case they have".

Former Trump lawyer and "fixer" Michael Cohen is reportedly ready to tell investigators that the President is lying about his knowledge regarding the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between Trump campaign officials and a Russian lawyer.

On June 9, 2016, not long after then-candidate Trump locked up the Republican nomination, Trump's son Donald Trump Jr., his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and then-campaign manager Paul Manafort, among others, met with a Russian attorney named Natalia Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in Manhattan.

On Friday, Mr Trump again denied that he knew about the meeting.

Robert Mintz, a former federal prosecutor now in private practice, said Cohen "seems to be taking a page out of President Trump's playbook by having his lawyers aggressively respond in the media to attacks on his credibility and reputation".

The New York Times, citing three people briefed on the matter, reported Thursday that Mueller was looking at Trump's negative postings on Attorney General Jeff Sessions and fired FBI Director James Comey.

If you don't think Cohen is a reliable narrator, check out this clip from June 2016 which strongly suggests that Trump knew that some dirt on Hillary was coming.

According to sources, Cohen alleges that he was present, along with several others, when Trump was informed by his son about the Russians' offer and Trump gave his approval to go ahead with the meeting.

Cohen, who once declared fierce loyalty to the president, is under federal investigation in NY for his business dealings and reportedly whether hush payments violated campaign finance laws.

Mr Cohen did not immediately return a request for comment on Mr Trump's tweet.

Mr. Mueller wants to question the president about the tweets.

Cohen's assertion is very important: if he can back it up, it would be a key step toward proving there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation aimed at helping Trump win the presidency - an essential focus of the probe by special counsel Robert Mueller. He now seems to be pointing a gun at Mr Trump's head. Longtime Trump-watchers say that's a sign he's completely written off the man who was once just one step below him on his company's organizational chart. At 4:04 p.m. on that day, phone records show that Agalarov called Trump Jr.; the call lasted up to 2 minutes. But a source close to him told the Journal that the Trump Organization CFO did not have knowledge of what that money was ultimately for.

Mr Trump was also keen to make his own statements on the global economy on Friday, telling reporters during a briefing at the White House that the United States was "the economic envy of the entire world".

On Twitter Friday morning, Trump also lashed out at the Mueller probe and suggested, without evidence, that in fact it was Democrats and not his own campaign that had colluded with Russian Federation to interfere in the 2016 election. "How stupid and unfair to our Country", he tweeted.
